Cookie policy
Last updated: July 2026
In short: this site uses no advertising cookies and sells data to nobody. Only the strictly necessary ones are active from the start. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are enabled only if you press “Accept” — if you decline, the script is not even loaded and the site works exactly the same.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser on your device. They allow a website to “remember” certain actions between pages.
2. The cookies we use
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| metz-cars-session | Keeps the browsing session so that the forms work correctly. | 2 hours |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Protects the forms against cross-site request forgery attacks. | 2 hours |
| metz-consent | Remembers your choice about analytics cookies. Not a cookie as such, but a value stored in your browser that never reaches our server. | 6 months |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics: counts unique visitors and pages viewed. Written only after you press “Accept”. | 2 years |
3. Saved cars — no cookie involved
When you save a car to your favourites, the list is kept in localStorage, a browser storage area. This data is never sent to our server and does not allow us to identify you. You can clear the list at any time from your browser settings.
4. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 to know how many people visit us, which cars are searched most often and from which devices. The data helps us improve the site; we do not use it for advertising and do not pass it on.
Your IP address is anonymised before storage, and Google’s advertising and personalisation features are explicitly switched off. The controller of this data is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer — on withdrawal we delete the cookies already set.
5. Third-party cookies
Apart from Google Analytics, we embed no advertising pixels, no embedded maps and no social buttons that would set third-party cookies. Links to Autovit, Google Maps, Waze, WhatsApp or social networks are plain links: they send nothing until you click them.
6. How to control cookies
The choice you make on your first visit can be changed at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. The choice expires after 6 months, when we ask again.
You can also delete or block cookies from your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary ones may stop the forms from working.
